How can I read and adjust the soil analysis summary of my field?

The field's soil analysis summary is an aggregation of all soil nutrients from soil analysis records assigned to that field, allowing you to easily review historical soil fertility trends and plan future testing. Based on the sample date, Atfarm generates the latest nutrient values for each nutrient from the available soil analysis records.

The soil analysis summary can be used to create Nutrition Plans tailored to your crop needs and soil fertility status for planning your optimal fertilizer strategy.

How to read the summary?

Access the soil analysis summary as follows:

  1. Log in to Atfarm from your desktop browser.
    • The soil analysis feature is only available in the Atfarm web app, not in the Atfarm mobile app.
  2. Select the desired farm in the farm overview.
  3. Select the desired field in the field overview.
  4. Go to the Soil Analysis tab.
  5. Click See Summary to open the soil analysis summary.

The soil analysis summary contains information on the soil analyses used for the calculation and a nutrient summary with different sections:

  • Primary parameters (from standard soil analyses): Soil characteristics and macronutrients
  • Secondary parameters (from standard soil analyses): Micronutrients, other nutrients, saturations, and composition
  • N- and S-mineralization (from N-mineralization analyses): N-Min, NO3, NH4, and S-Min

For each parameter you can see extraction method, analysis name, last sampling date, and status. Based on local laws, the nutrient status will tell you when it needs to be checked again.

Please note:

  • Only nutrient values provided with the soil analysis can be parsed. If no value has been parsed, we'll use regional default nutrient values for the Nutrition Plan calculation.
  • Certain units or extraction methods can't be interpreted by Atfarm. In this case, we'll store the nutrient information for you, but we won't use it to create Nutrition Plans.

How can I adjust the summary?

You can change unit and extraction method of a nutrient. Since the soil analysis summary is aggregated, values of parameters can't be edited. To update a value, please add a new record for the latest sample date.

Change unit and extraction method as follows:

  1. Click the analysis name of the nutrient you want to edit in the soil analysis summary.
  2. The analysis with all details will open.
  3. Click the unit dropdown next to a nutrient value to select the unit.
  4. Click the extraction method dropdown of a nutrient and select the method.
    • If an extraction method you originally selected for a nutrient isn't available in Atfarm, you'll see a red notice. Please select another extraction method from the dropdown.
