Use our free photo analysis feature in the Atfarm mobile app and analyse oil seed rape and winter cereals in early growth stages.
Simply take a picture of your plants with the camera of your smartphone or tablet and get an on-field nitrogen recommendation in kg/ha afterwards. |
In cereals this usually ranges from BBCH 20 to 29 and for oil seed rape up to 60 cm of plant height. For oil seed rape the Atfarm mobile app determines a nitrogen recommendation. For cereals you will receive the nitrogen uptake.
For the photo analysis the available calibrations for crop types, the measuring method and the measurement output vary from country to country.
Use the recommendations for planning your first nitrogen application and also as a base for creating Variable N-Rate Application (VRA) Maps in Atfarm.
This is how you use the photo analysis:
- Open the Atfarm mobile app.
- Choose the farm and field you want to analyse.
- The field details view opens. Scroll down and select 'Begin Photo Analysis'.
- Select variety, growth stage, sowing date and enter the common first N dressing.
- Click 'Initiate Analysis'.
- Allow Atfarm to use your camera and position.
- Your camera will now open and you can take pictures of your crop.
- Click 'Get results' when you have made enough photos.
- An N-recommendation or the N-uptake (depending on country and crop type) is displayed in kg N/ha on your smartphone.
- Click 'Show more insights' to view more details about your measurement.
- Click 'Repeat' to re-start the measurement.
You can find all your nitrogen recommendations in the field view.
How many pictures should I take? What does a good photo look like?
You can get a good recommendation with only one picture but the more pictures you take, the more representative your sample will be.
Walk across the field and take pictures in order to get the best out of this capability. To take the best photo, keep your smartphone parallel to the ground, hold it 1-1,5 m above the canopy and exclude boots, tools or anything that is not the crop.
If it's too sunny, cover the crops with your own shadow to avoid falsifying the result.
Corn
Winter wheat
Spring barley
Oil seed rape
My variety is not in the drop-down list
If you cannot find the name of your variety in the drop-down list, please contact our support team and we will suggest similar varieties to choose instead.
Why is my location required?
For us to provide you the best possible nitrogen recommendations, we need to know the location of your crops to take regional conditions into account.
