How can I upload lab soil analysis files?

The soil analysis feature is only available in the Atfarm web app, not in the Atfarm mobile app.

You can add soil analysis values either by uploading lab analysis files from supported laboratories as described in this article, or by manually entering soil analysis values.

Please note:

  • Soil analyses can only be assigned to fields with crop types that are supported for creating a Nutrition Plan. Therefore, only add soil analyses for supported crop types. Find here the crops for which you can create Nutrition Plans.

Proceed as follows to upload a lab analysis file:

1) Select files

Select the files to be uploaded as follows:

  1. Log in to Atfarm from your desktop browser.
  2. Select the desired farm in the farm overview.
  3. Click Soil Analysis in the left navigation bar.
  4. The soil analysis overview will open, showing all the soil analyses within your farm.
  5. Click Add Soil Analysis.
  6. Select Upload soil analysis from the options.
  7. If necessary, click Edit next to the country to change the country of the laboratory that conducted the analysis. Then select the country from the dropdown and click Save.
  8. Select the laboratory name from the corresponding dropdown.
    • Find here the supported laboratories with supported analysis types and file formats.
    • If you don't see your laboratory in the list, you can request to add a laboratory as described below. We'll contact the laboratory and consider supporting their analysis in Atfarm. In the meantime, you can manually enter the soil analysis values.
      1. Click Request here below the dropdown.
      2. Enter the laboratory name in the text box that opens. Optionally, tell us which file types and soil data you would like to add from this laboratory.
      3. Click + Add laboratory file template and select a template from this laboratory from your computer.
      4. Click Request laboratory to submit the request.
  9. Depending on the laboratory, you can now select the analysis type. For some laboratories, there is only one analysis type available. This will be selected automatically.
    • Find here the supported laboratories with supported analysis types and file formats.
  10. Click Upload from computer and select the lab analysis file from your computer or drag and drop one or more files into the upload box.
    • Find here the supported laboratories with supported analysis types and file formats.
    • For assistance, please contact our support team and provide the file(s) you're trying to upload.
  11. You can see the added file(s).
    • If necessary, click Add More to upload additional files.
    • Click the bin icon next to a file to remove it.
  12. Click Continue to proceed to the last step.

2) Review and upload files

You can now review and adjust the analyses detected in the uploaded file(s). If any errors have been detected in an analysis, they'll be flagged and can be corrected.

An error can be:

  • Sample date is in the future
  • Nutrient values missing or not read from the file
  • Nutrient values not in alphabetical order or with special characters

Review and upload the files as follows:

  1. If necessary, click the sample date dropdown of an analysis to change the sample date.
  2. Click the analysis ID of an analysis to view all sample details, field details, and parameters. If necessary, edit parameters as follows:
    • Change value: Enter a new value for a parameter in the corresponding input field.
    • Change unit: Click the unit dropdown next to a parameter and select a unit from the options.
    • Change extraction method: Click the method dropdown of a parameter and select a method from the options. If you select an unsupported method, Atfarm will notify you after the upload and you need to select a different extraction method. Otherwise, the soil analysis can't be used for creating Nutrition Plans. Find here the supported extraction methods.
  3. Tick the box next to an analysis to select it for the upload.
  4. Click Confirm to upload the analyses.
  5. The analyses have been added to the soil analysis overview.

All added soil analyses can be found in the soil analysis overview, which can be accessed from the left navigation bar. Soil analyses added for a field can also be found on the field page under Soil Analysis. On the field page you'll also find the aggregated soil analysis summary for the field.

3) Assign analyses

Soil analyses must be assigned to a field so that they can be used to calculate the field's soil analysis summary, which can then be used for the calculation of a Nutrition Plan.

In the soil analysis overview, you can see which analyses have been automatically assigned to which field and which ones haven't.

Proceed as follows to assign an analysis to a field:

  1. Click the three dots next to an analysis in the soil analysis overview.
  2. Select Reassign to field from the options.
  3. Select the field name from the dropdown.
    • If a field isn't in the list, the crop type of that field isn't supported for creating a Nutrition Plan, or the field hasn't been assigned a crop type yet. Find here the crops for which you can create Nutrition Plans.
  4. Click Save to reassign the analysis to the selected field.
