With the free N-Photo Analysis in the Atfarm mobile app, you can get on-field nitrogen recommendations for oil seed rape and winter cereals at early growth stages.
How does it work?
Once you've installed the Atfarm mobile app on your mobile device and added your farms and fields to your Atfarm account, you can start analysing your crops with your smartphone or tablet camera. Simply enter your crop information and yield target, then take photos of your crop.
The Atfarm algorithm estimates the N-uptake based on the colour difference between your young plants and the soil. The N-uptake estimate is based on field trial data, which is then converted into a nitrogen recommendation specific to your crop and region.
What crops can I use it on and when?
You can use the N-Photo Analysis recommendations to plan your 1st nitrogen application and also as a basis for creating Variable N-Rate Application (VRA) Maps. Use the Yara N-Tester to get nitrogen recommendations for cereals at later growth stages to plan 2nd, 3rd and protein dressings.
In the United Kingdom you can use the N-Photo Analysis for the following crops and growth stages and get the following result:
Crop class | Crop type | BBCH/crop height | Result |
Winter oil seed rape | N/A | 5-60 cm |
N-recommendation for the whole season in kg N/ha N-uptake estimate in kg N/ha Green fresh matter estimate in t/ha |
Winter wheat | Durum | BBCH 20-30 | N-uptake estimate in kg N/ha |
Feed | BBCH 20-30 | N-uptake estimate in kg N/ha
Milling | BBCH 20-30 | N-uptake estimate in kg N/ha
Wholecrop | BBCH 20-30 | N-uptake estimate in kg N/ha |
